Welcome to the website of Exbourne with Jacobstowe Parish Council.
The villages of Exbourne and Jacobstowe lie in the midst beautiful unspoilt farming countryside north of the town of Okehampton and close to Dartmoor.
Our aim in providing this facility is to give you easy access to information about the Parish Council.
The Parish Council consists of seven Councillors, two from Jacobstowe and five from Exbourne, also our helpful Parish Clerk.
Our villages each have a parish church (St Mary the Virgin, Exbourne and St James, Jacobstowe) and we share a Village Hall, pre- and primary school, the Methodist Chapel and ‘The Burrow’, our underground community shop, cafe and post office which has recently been awarded the Rural Cooperative Award for the South West for the work they do for the community. Exbourne is also very lucky to have the North Devon CAMRA Pub of the Year in both 2014 and 2015: The Red Lion.
There are a variety of clubs and societies including Exbourne Local History Group, Exbourne Garden Club, Exbourne W.I. and Jammy Dodgers (a Church Youth Group), as well as weekly yoga, table tennis and skittles. There is also a bell ringing group and a choir linked to Exbourne Parish Church too.
The Parish Council meet in the Village Hall, Exbourne, or the Church, Jacobstowe, generally on the last Tuesday of the month. Meetings are open to the public, who have an opportunity to address the Council should they wish.
