Exbourne Village Hall

The Village Hall was built in the late 19th century and was originally known as the Reading Rooms. Ownership was transferred into a charitable trust in 1952 and it now plays an important role as a space for bringing residents of the Parish together through community events and social gatherings. The Village Hall is run by a group of trustees who represent the clubs and groups who use the hall. Anyone in the village who would like to become a trustee would be welcomed to do so.


Thanks to various grants the Hall has recently been extensively refurbished. New curtains, secondary glazing and re-painting now provide a fresh, warm venue for events.
We hold various events throughout the year, some for charity and some for raising funds. Details below.

The Village Hall is available for hire. It has a capacity of 100 and can be used for events such as weddings, funerals, christenings, parties and general gatherings. Kitchen facilities are available at no extra cost. Hire Charges can be found below.

PLEASE NOTE:

The total number of persons permitted on the premises is 100
The hall is not licensed for films or for the performance of copyright music.
The hall does NOT have a licence for the sale of alcohol
Smoking is not allowed on the premises.

As there is no paid caretaker, hirers are expected to leave the village hall in the state they would wish to find it. This includes:

  • Sweeping all floors and making sure toilets are flushed and clean
  • Leaving the kitchen clean and tidy and removing all rubbish
  • All lights and heaters, including those in the kitchen, must be switched off on leaving.
  • Hirers are responsible for any loss or damage to the building or its contents.

Items provided under the hire:

  • Washing up liquid; J-cloths
  • Floor mop, broom, dust-pan and brush
  • T-towels; paper towel in the toilets and kitchen
  • Bin liners & spare toilet roll.

Not provided:

  • Supplementary heating costs are not included in the hire fee. Please ensure sufficient coins are put in the meter to cover your use.
